Friday Night 22nd: walk or drive into inverness for food and a drink (please be aware if bringing the car of the lower drink drive limit in Scotland) people are free to go it alone or meet up with others. Inverness offers plenty of variety.
Sat 23rd: 10 Am arrival at Fort George IV2 7TD. Fort George is an 18th century Fortress built in the aftermath of the Jacobite uprising of 1745. The Fortress has never been attacked and has been in continuous use as a British Army Garrison. It remains unaltered and is visitor space with exhibitions and exhibits on show.
Cost is £11 on arrival, £9 over 65, & £6.50 children 7-15
Free plentiful parking where we can park together.
Upon leaving the fort we will travel onto Clava Cairns (signposted from the B9091 300yds east of culloden battlefield), A 4000 year old Bronze age burial site. The ancient cemetary is built on a terrace above the River nairn and houses prehistoric burial monuments and the remains of a medieval chapel. It is free to visit with free parking available
Saturday evening meal to be confirmed once numbers are known.
Sun 24th: 10AM arrival at Brodie castle and estate IV36 2TE. The 400 yr old Ancestral home of the Brodie Clan, Take a guided tour of the castle to see a collection of furniture, ceramics and artwork. Entry fee is £16.75, £14.75 concession & £9.50 children
Entry to the Playful Garden is free where there is over 100 different daffodil varieties amongst other plants and flowers and plenty to keep children amused.
We will leave Brodie castle and travel to the Moray motor Museum in Elgin IV30 4DE for 1:30PM.
The museum is housed in an old mill building and the exhibits consist of veteran, vintage and classic cars and motorbikes as well as Model cars and automobilia. Admission price is £12 and includes a tea or coffee
