What should have been our final main event of the year turns out to be our first!   For this we return to the ever-popular Peak District.

Saturday – RED OKTOBER ROAD RUN:   The virus situation is delaying confirmation of plans but expect a drive through fabulous scenery, attractive towns and villages and the Derwent Valley UNESCO World Heritage site with its historic mills.  It is hope to start with a morning visit to Barrow Hill, UK’s last operational steam locomotive roundhouse.

Sunday – CRICH TRAMWAY VILLAGE EASTERN BLOC VEHICLE MEET:  We make a very welcome return visit to Crich Tramway Village  and the National Tramway Museum:  www.tramway.co.uk.  Many will recall that this was a regular Red Oktober venue until the Museum moved away from such events.

Well, we’re back, but  please note:  this is a meet for Eastern Bloc vehicles only – it is not a revival of past Red Oktober events at Crich.  The Museum insists that there are no uniforms or military re-enactors (after some reported problems in the past).  We will  comply with the museum’s wishes and, who knows, maybe there’ll be a softening of their line another year.

All vehicles with an Eastern Bloc pedigree are welcome to join us for all or part of this weekend.

For those staying over, we’re suggesting basing ourselves at Chesterfield on the eastern edge of the Peaks where there is good reasonably priced accommodation and meal options.

Do join us for all or part of this great weekend of Eastern Bloc motoring.  Please contact Richard so that we can keep you up to date including confirmation of Saturday’s route, suggested accommodation and details of evening meals for those staying over.
