Red Oktober is back, and back in the Peak District too.
Saturday: Those staying over will be based at the Georgian House Hotel, Derby, which made us welcome when we last visited a few years ago. Friday arrivals can enjoy the excellent public bar (a former CAMRA Good Beer Guide entry) and bar menu.
From here we’ll convoy out into the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District for a taster of some of the fabulous driving roads and scenery for which the area is famous. There’ll be stops for refreshments and photos on the way.
In the evening, those local or staying over can enjoy a group evening meal in the hotel’s sumptuous Georgian dining room. We’re persuading Reg Tubby to entertain us afterwards with illustrated tales of his Trabant-driving debut in north Africa!
Sunday: Red Oktober returns for a relaxing day at the ever-popular Crich Tramway Village, for many years the undisputed highlight of the Eastern Bloc motoring year.
Our Eastern Bloc vehicles will display along the famous street and throughout the museum. Trams operating on the mile-long track ensure there’s always something of interest, and we’ve been given the green light to hold an Eastern Bloc cavalcade through the village too.
Refreshments in the cafe will include an appropriate Eastern European speciality! There’s plenty of covered exhibition space too should the weather be fresh.
Drivers get free admission – normal entrance cost for passengers.
