Red Oktober is back!  Based in Derby, our weekend of Eastern Bloc motoring takes in two  museums, both newly opened in 2021,  plus road runs through fabulous Derbyshire scenery.

Friday:  Early arrivals can meet up in the afternoon (we’ll choose somewhere of interest) before a group evening meal (tbc when we have numbers).

Saturday Morning:   For those in the area, we take a morning circular road run starting in Derby heading out into the edge of the Peak District.  We’ll have tea/coffee break at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway before returning to the afternoon Eastern Bloc vehicle meet at Derby.

Saturday Afternoon:  Eastern Bloc vehicle meet at Derby’s new Museum of Making in the heart of the city.

 

The museum, within the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrates the area’s rich history of innovation and manufacturing.

Our vehicles will display at Cathedral Green, directly outside the Museum, from midday – 5pm.  Free admission to museum. www.derbymuseums.org/museum-of-making/.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We round off the day with a meal in our reserved Georgian dining room at the hotel followed by Dave Richards ‘spilling the beans’ with his presentation “Behind the scenes at Car SoS” .

 

 

 

 

 

Sunday Morning:  A longer road run from Derby, taking us through attractive traditional villages and farms of the Derbyshire Dales before climbing into the edge of the Peak District.

Sunday Afternoon:  … the new Great British Car Journey with interactive technology guides, featuring over 100 carefully selected cars, from Austin Seven to Metro and Beyond!

Red Oktober discount adult admission £10 (normally £15).

Accommodation:

For those staying over, we are based at the Georgian House Hotel, Ashbourne Road, Derby DE22 3AD      www.georgianhousehotel.uk .

The hotel has a traditional real ale bar open to all (a previous entry in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide).  We have the Georgian dining room reserved for our Saturday evening meal (open to all, whetheror not you’re staying at the hotel).
